Palestinian Struggle: A Facade? Fad? or everlasting Battle of Freedom?

  1. I respect and salute everyone on their evidential concern on the Palestinian prisoners. What really is bothersome is the fear that this support is only for a few days or weeks, as soon as the flame dies, so  does all the support that goes with it.Nauzubillah'himinzalik, hopefully this is not the case
  2. Having said that, this hunger strike is not a new issue, first there was Khader Adnan then Hana Shalabi now Bilal Diab&Thaer Halahleh. If we are to support and stand with Palestinians, we need to be there for them 24/7 and 365 days a year.
  3. Some questions were raised as to where were these people rising up now when Khader Adnan was on his hunger strike? But to me that never entails anyone to call a Muslim less of a Muslim just for the sake of it. Look at the bigger picture.
  4. Amongst the positives seen from this so call sudden rise of awareness towards Palestine is that everyone is now busy googling, reading up about Palestine's history and getting on board with the recent events on Palestinian soil. Alhamdulillah, this is a cluster of positivism that would hopefully be instilled into everyone for a very long time!
  5. Furthermore, this will give a hindsight to the potential of Muslims worldwide, they would be able to put aside political inclinations and difference in various matters to come together and be strong for Palestine. MashaAllah such unity. It is what I believe Monsieur Prof Tariq Ramadan was saying 'Universality is Islam is not uniformity, but Unity with Diversity.'
  6. Remember, we as Muslims or those who are interested in such deep issues should, in my humblest of opinions at least study the history of it all. From 1920 when the British mandate started, the Arab Revolt back in 1939, the 1947 UN Partition plan, the 1948 Exodus, the Oslo Accordance, Geneva 1988 and many more.
  7. I am not for once, telling you what is right or wrong, but from a viewpoint, we need to be in the know, before haranguing the gauntlet down on the Jews. We need to learn, to get ourselves acquainted with the Palestinian issue in accordance with campaigning and posting about Palestinian freedom.
  8. Never support blindly and with no nous, Islam never preaches ignorance of such level.
  9. Again this is from the deepest depths of my hearts, I love Palestine, and I yearn everyday for it to be free, I believe all of us do as well. But please brothers and sisters, never stop there, not only with Profile Pictures, write more, be critical of the Palestinian issues, share your knowledge about Palestine with those who are in the dark.
  10. Support for Palestine could start brilliantly by keeping them in your prayers, but as an individual one might ask what more could I do? I am a million miles away, I am not in that state, what more could I do?
  11. Indeed there's so much more we could do, how about changing our lifestyles, not spending excessively, by which I mean going about our daily lives and living it with moderation, which I believe is asked from our beloved Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), by which I mean knowing that when we complain about petty things how things are over there with the people of the Quds.
  12. Also follow the news on various Palestine based sites that consistently reports about issues in Palestine, you have aplenty Middle East Monitor,Electronic Intifada,BDS movement, Palestinkini and so much more. You also have the ever brilliant Ali AbuNimah on twitter and several other Palestine based journalists that reports on daily basis on the events occurring in Palestine.
  13. What is more, it is good that we are really concern about Palestine, but never abandon Syria, never forget the starving kids in Africa, the multitudes of unjust massacres ongoing all over the world. Keep them all in your prayers!
  14. NEVER ALLOW THIS TO BE A SEASONAL ISSUE, I BELIEVE THIS IS NOT AND NEVER SHOULD BE A FAD!  THIS IS NOT A FASHION STATEMENT MY DEAR BROTHERS AND SISTERS, this is the REAL DEAL! and I pray that all of us will keep on going about the Palestinian issue till the day each of us will be taken away from earth, inshaAllah.
  15. Again, I salute and am proud of this uprising, be it only on Facebook, it is a good start, but don't just stop there my dear friends, go on and make a difference, may Allah bless our efforts in whatever shape or form we intend it to be and hand-in-hand we will end the Israeli Apartheid and reclaim back  Palestinian soil for their people.
  16. It's an ongoing struggle, remember the Prophet (PBUH) said  'A group of my community will not cease to fight at the gates of Damascus and at the gates of al-Quds and its surroundings. The betrayal or desertion of whoever deserts them will not harm them in the least. They will remain victorious, standing for truth, until the Final Hour rises' (Recorded by Tabarani)
PALESTINE WILL BE FREE INSHA-ALLAH.

p/s: I invite constructive criticism of my writing in which I believe is retched with mistakes. may Allah bless your brilliant minds and beautiful souls.

Homeopathy, is it still relevant?

Similia Similbus Curantur’ audibly may be mistaken as one of those ludicrous magic lines in Harry Potter, but in reality it is the central tenet of Homeopathy dated back since its foundation 200 years ago by Samuel Hahnemann. The principle ‘Likes Cures Likes’ is uphold by Homeopaths all over the world by treating ailments with natural substances that if given to a healthy person will produce symptoms of the ailment. A quick glance of this practice in Homeopathy can be seen in the use of Alium Cepa, of red onion origin, given to patient who has the symptoms of sneezing, excessive nasal discharge and profusion of tears. This laudable principle which is a revival of idea conversant with Hippocrates however is overshadowed by the unusual preparation of Homeopathic remedy. Homeopathic remedy is prepared through potentiation, of which the mother tincture, an extract of the original substance is diluted with water to an astronomical ratio, up to a level of which no molecules of the medicine could have being present, as perceived by modern day science. This strange preparation of Homeopathic remedy never fails to raise eyebrows among skeptics. To make thing stranger, Homeopaths believe that the more chemically diluted the remedy, the more therapeutically enhanced it is. In an era that demands a succinct scientific explanation of the universe, does Homeopathy deserve a place in today health care amidst its surrounding controversy?

Last year, a prolific health care author, Dr. Madelon Lubin Finkel, published the book ‘Public Health in the 21st Century’ in which she addressed the new health challenges around the globe, all too frequently associated with the confluent effects of pollution and inevitable post industrial environmental changes. A growing concern is the prevalent increase of respiratory and allergic-associated diseases including asthma. ‘The Global Burden of Asthma’ is a term designated in depicting the finance and energy consume in battling with asthma, not only at individual level but up to governmental level. This global catastrophe is in fact has economically exceeds those of AIDS and Tuberculosis combined. In face of such dilemma, Homeopathy offers an initiative, both financially and practically useful, without lifetime medication and hospital admission. In The Lancet (December 10, 1994) a research on Homeopathic medicine was conducted in a small scale of 24 patients by professors at the University of Glasgow. The asthmatic patients are given individualized Homeopathic remedy of substances to which they are most allergic to, in accordance to Law of Similarity. Within the first week of treatment, there is a significant relief of asthma reported by patients, not to mention the side effect of the remedy is virtually nil. Homeopathy might be of minuscule role in emergency asthma attack, but it clearly provide better choice in reducing or eliminating asthma symptoms, hence alleviating the global burden of asthma.

Conventional medicine relies mainly on man-made drugs that are able to control the patients’ symptoms but sometimes give rise to unavoidable side effects. In recent decade, there is an increase awareness and consensus view even among the public about the ill-effect of common drugs in the long run. Nowadays patients are looking for an alternative way out, and many have discovered the benefits of using Homeopathic remedy in lieu of taking common drugs. Homeopathic remedy, unlike its conventional counterpart, is claimed by many as safe and has no toxic side effects as it is derived mainly from natural sources.  Common drug likes Panadol may reduce the pain in a rapid manner but the consumption need of pain killer will increase with time as the body becomes habituated to the drug, not to mention its adverse effects on liver. In Homeopathy, if the right remedy is given, its efficacy is similar to that of common drug although some patient may undergo Homeopathic aggravation, a temporary worsening of existing symptoms. The condition usually subsidised with time and there is no reoccurrence of symptoms, annihilated them truly. It is believed that instead of suppressing the disease, Homeopathy treat the root cause, not the symptoms. On the other hand, conventional medicine has gone to the extent of suppressing the immune system in order to get rid of a symptom. The usage of cough medicine for example suppresses the cough reflex which is supposed to be our body defense mechanism. It does not address the underlying issue but only the symptoms. As Dana Ullman, a well known Homeopath said; “Symptoms, then, are sign or signal of something else, and treating them does not necessarily change that ‘something else’”. Homeopathy might not be able to replace the need of drugs in anesthesia for surgery, or surgical procedure itself but it can definitely provide a favorable alternative in treating daily illness and avoid the unwanted effects of common prescribed drugs, consequently decrease the rate of doctor-induced diseases.

Despite the booming flood of new drugs for treatment, modern day health care has witnessed a backward fashion of patients’ satisfaction. Doctors today approached patients as cases needed to be solved instead of a person longing to be healed. Perhaps this is one of the reasons why many more are shifting to Homeopathy.  Homeopathy provides a holistic approach of medicine that treats the patients as a whole, taking into accounts their personality and mental state rather than just the physical symptoms. A Homeopathic practitioner will try to match the physical symptoms and mental state of patients to the right remedy. For example, patients of common physical symptoms but different emotional states will be given two different individualised remedy and only one remedy is given to address all the symptoms. This is very different from conventional medicine, in which a drug is given to tackled only one symptoms. A patient will be given a drug concurrently with other drugs, each targeted at specific symptoms and even another medication to address the side effect of the given drug. Not only that, the number of drugs prescribed will increase with the increase of age of the patient, to the extent that they have to swallow a cocktail of drug in elderly age. It is very disheartening that these patients often resemble that of drug addicts, unable to cut their dependency to their medications. On the other hand, patients have a high regard of Homeopathic approach in treating them compare to the time spend with common physicians, many of which devoid of eye contact and spend only a few minutes before prescribing a drug. Thus Homeopathy fills in the hole of conventional medicine, and improves the relationship between patients and practitioner. It is due to the fact that physicians nowadays, despite all the scientific approach and novel technology, failed to provide the basic human support for their patients: quality time and empathy.

Homeopathy might also be the solution to relieve the plight of the third world countries as it could provide a cheap accessible health care to counteract spreading epidemics that was exacerbated by low hygiene and lacks of quality health care. In Tanzania, two years ago, Jeremy Sherr, a prominent Homeopathic figure has founded Homoeopathy for Health in Africa project, co-contributed by many homeopaths around the globe in providing better health care for AIDS patients.  Sherr has described how Homeopathy helps in improving the life of the AIDS patients by inducing the body self immune system. Other Homeopathic figure, Jennifer Jacobs, Homeopathic MD and also a master in Public Health, carried a landmark study published as “Treatment of Acute Childhood Diarrhea with Homeopathic Medicine: A Randomized Clinical Trial in Nicaragua” (Pediatrics, 1994). The study shows a positive result towards Homeopathy. Diarrhea, an unabated cause of death in children in developing country could have been minimise by Homeopathy. Meanwhile, in developing countries like Pakistan, Cuba and Mexico, Homeopathy is assimilated into mainstream medicine. While in India its legislation is on par with that of mainstream. Over recent years, Homeopathy is able to establish numerous prestigious Homeopathic medical colleges, given birth to many licensed practitioners. Homeopathy practice in such countries has continued to remain a popular choice among local people because of its effectiveness and low cost. The practice of Homeopathy is not only limited to developing countries. In France and Germany too, Homeopathy share the same spotlight as mainstream medicine. In United Kingdom, Homeopathy receive funding from NHS, National Health Service in establishment of Homeopathic hospital and most general practitioner are also allowed to prescribed Homeopathic remedy. This is a tremendous indicator that even patients in developed countries, despite the high accessibility to mainstream medicine, have resorted to Homeopathy.

For centuries skeptics with great panache have try to classify Homeopathy as a mere placebo effect. They believe that the healing power of Homeopathy is all in the mind of patients, who, due to the empathic attitude and the quality time given by Homeopathic practitioner, becomes better no matter what medication is given. However this reiteration proved to fail when Homeopathy also gives profound effects on animals. Unlike human, animals can’t be convinced that it is going to be healed by Homeopathic remedy, neither can the doctor provide emotional assurance to the animal. Despite of that, this still does not subsidies the benefits animals obtain from the intake of Homeopathy, physically and emotionally. In line with the Homeopathic consultation to human, history taking by the Homeopathic veterinarian also involved the personality of the animal, as told, of course, by the owner of the pet. Homeopathy is also used in treatment of farm animals and wildlife rehabilitation.  Veterinary Homeopathy has been established a decade after the establishment of Homeopathy itself. In 1984, the British Association of Homeopathic Veterinary Surgeons was established indicating not only medical general practitioner has embraced Homeopathy, but also professional veterinarian. At present, there is an expanded Homeopathic veterinary community all around the globe.

In the field of alternative medicine, Homeopathy might have been the beau idéal of what holistic healing is. Though it has been deliberately misconstrued and vehemently criticized by many that were unable to comprehend a system of medicine so against quantum physics and rational mind. The mechanism of action of Homeopathic remedy may not be able to be explained yet in term of modern science, but the problem is not of how it works, rather does it works? The acceptance on Homeopathy should not be on halt until we find an explanation satisfying enough to scientific community, for it may takes forever. Homeopathy, a medicine of small doses, but of magnanimous value in the 21st century.  Hence, the question as to whether Homeopathy is still relevant should have been discarded because Homeopathy, unlike the now infamous Harry Potter, will always survive the fate of time and remain popular due to its efficacy.

Sajak : Kita Ini Tetamu Senja oleh A Samad Said

Kita datang ini hanya sebagai tetamu senja
Bila cukup detik kembalilah
Kita kepadanya
Kita datang ini kosong tangan dada
Bila pulang nanti bawa dosa bawa pahala
Pada tetamu yang datang dan
Kenal jalan pulang
Bawalah bakti mesra kepada
Tuhan kepada Insan
Pada tetamu yang datang
Dan lupa jalan pulang
Usahlah derhaka pula
Pada Tuhan kepada insan
Bila kita lihat manusia lupa tempat
Atau segera sesat puja darjat
Puja pangkat
Segera kita insaf kita ini punya kiblat
Segera kita ingat kita ini punya tekad
Bila kita lihat manusia terbiar larat
Hingga mesti merempat ke laut biru
Ke kuning darat
Harus kita lekas sedar penuh pada tugas
Harus kita tegas sembah
Seluruh rasa belas
Kita datang ini satu roh satu jasad
Bila pulang nanti bawa bakti padat berkat
Kita datang ini satu roh satu jasad
Bila pulang nanti bawa bakti padat berkat

Mutiara Syeikh Dr Yusri Sayyid Al-jabr Al-hasani

Dataran Hayyu A’syir, 7 April 2011.

Puisi Kerdil buat Baginda

Qalbuku penuh dimomok debu,
Ianya hitam lambang khilafku,
Tidak kusangka dapat mendekatimu,
Wahai Habibullah,
Kaulah yang kami rindu,
Saban tahun kami berselawat,
Kononnya kami beringat-ingat,
Kalam diulang ketika pemergianmu bagai hikayat,
Ummati,ummati pelbagai makna tersurat&tersirat,
Namun kami dibuai kealpaan akan ibrah pemergianmu,
Diakhir hayatmu masih dikau mengenang kami,
Kami yang lalai sekian hari,
Kami yang makin jauh dengan peribadimu,
Kami yang tidak pertahankan hadiahNya menjadi umatmu,
Tidak langsung pernah terlintas,
Aku yang kerdil,
Aku yang hina dina,
Dapat mengamati,
Walau sehelai peninggalanmu,
Qalbu ini tersemat dengan titisan insafi,
Qalbu ini mula menangis tidak terperi,
Aqalku merangkak cuba menyusun kalami,
Ya Rasulullah!
Daku ingin kembali,
Daku ingin mencari!
Hakikat cintamu sebenar yang pudar dimamah duniawi.

ibrah tanta [bersama helaian janggut Junjungan Mulia,Kekasih Ilahi,Muhammad SAW]

BOONA MOHAMED – SIGNS

Let me take a moment to show some kindness,
To the folks that thought blindness was a disease that affected the eyes alone, I promise I won’t judge you, I barely know how to love you
And like fools we preach rules, but we don’t even follow our own.

Everybody needs comfort,
Some people find it in this; some people find it in that
And some people just don’t find it at all.

But this world is full of signs
From the moon to the stars in the sky
From the bees and the bugs, like a seed in your blood
Like a feen to a drug, makes you need to look up
And questions what’s up, why you deal with this stuff?
When your spirits are crushed and you trek through the rough
But like thunder it struck, said “Be” and it was

All the signs that were sent, they finally makes sense
You feel the torment, so you need to repent
When your heart is cemented, it’s hard as a brick
Cause your soul is worth more than the dollars and cents,
All the money in the world couldn’t buy you happiness
Cause “verily, it is in the remembrance of Allah, that hearts do find rest”

And do not get it confused,
I’m not a scholar or a preacher
I’m just a regular dude, who makes mistakes too
But we are reflections true,
So I can’t talk about me without talking about you

And who knew?
We would end up in a place so confused
Where little boys wanna be like little girls and little girls just wanna be abused
Where they terrorize the truth, mentally arrest the youth
Even though there is no law but Allah’s and momma didn’t raise no fool.

And who knew?
That expecting the world to treat you fairly because you think you’re a good person,
Would be a little like expecting a bull not to attack you because you’re a vegetarian,
You can’t begin to learn what you think you already know
In mans own ignorance we forgot that women once watched us grow
And before that you were a tiny ball of flesh without any bones
And before that you were just unknown, and now look behold
You have the arrogance to assume that you just made it on your own?
But what were you but a chewed piece of clot, before you grew
And who knew you would trace your ancestry back to a zoo?
You must have really come from apes with your monkey point of views
Even the devil believes in God, so. what does that, make, you?

And it’s true
Sometimes I feel like Noah preaching to a packed empty room
Nobody wanna listen until we start rolling out two by two
I’m a big fan of Abraham; never break-up from Jacob
Joseph had the kind of beauty that you couldn’t find in makeup
Moses was to Pharaoh what stones are to arrows
And David to Goliath what truth is to silence
Following, Solomon I’d get down too
Contrary to popular belief, Jesus is my homeboy too.
So peace be upon the whole crew who came to teach what we never knew
Even though few caught the groove, they never turned blue
Never confused what was true even if it was a taboo
Never came for fame or praise but to praise who they prayed too

And who knew?
That an un-lettered man from the middle of the desert,
Would change the whole world from darkness into heaven
You may have every title, every big shot degree
But you still can’t explain: Alif-Lam-Meem

And who knew?
There would be so many views and ways to explain
That He’s closer to you than your jugular vein
So if you complain that God must be cruel
Can you give Allah, all that he gives to you?
From the breath that you breathe, to the trees that you feed
From the eyes that you see, to the sea that you eat
If I cut you, you bleed, than you heal magically
We’re the illest machines, manufactured for means.
The concepts extreme but this world is a dream,
It’s not what it seems, filled with lies and deceit
The truth is serene so wake up smell the deen
Praises be to He, His Oneness, Supreme
Totally unique, in no need of sleep
Not like you or me, his greatness complete
No partners, no mates, no father, no sons
No discount 3 in 1, just Allah Azzawa Jalla
Even the birds sing his name,
The Lord of all the worlds
Glory be to He and to Allah is our return.

Talking Heads

  • As of late and as ever, everyone has something to say about every single issue that arises.
  • This is a commoner practice which is good in essence if done in the right way.
  • Now I am not saying that I know the right way, rather its a point of observation amongst peers, and what we could see manifesting around us everyday.
  • I believe in freedom of speech of course when practised in its fine right way. But it is a virulent practice that everyone is indeed threading on a very fine line.
  • If you go overboard you might find yourself akin to the evillest of perceptions and if you're not going to say anything you'd be a passive passenger on God's earth.
  • A fatal mistake that many of us seemingly commit every single day without fail is that we love to lash out criticism without any substance. It's the infamously named cheap-shots that we sometime use to get back on certain issues that doesn't bode well with our train of thoughts.

"Speaking little and listening much are virtues and signs of maturity. The desire to make oneself heard at all times is a sign of spiritual imbalance and shamelessness, even if some explain it away as a form of insanity"-Fethullah Gulen

  • We often let emotions cloud our judgement. It's the very microcosm to the ever perishable healthy discourse between two parties engaging in a beautiful collision of ideas. Not akin to demonize each other, but rather trying to find a common ground and if a disagreement arises, respect each others personal views.
  • The very art of a healthy discussion is to never allow, at any point, your emotions get in your way.
  • Yes, principals are key, but as Professor Tariq Ramadan once mentioned "Without discipline, my ego is the first jail of myself".
  • This is the thin line we're threading. Often we fall prey to our own egos, getting entrapped in our own prison of our mindset, wanting to champion a debate, the negative desire to see our counterpart fall and eat their own views up.
  • We claim to be wanting to correct or to amend the situation, but in essence our "words of wisdom" just made things worse. Unfortunately, intentions never justify the end of our means.
  • Existence of a check and balance principality is pivotal in order to ensure we do not skew off the thin line drawn over the years by our community's psychosocial aspects.
  • Nothing that I have put together in the paragraphs above have not already been playing in our very minds, it is the implementation that becomes the problem. We all know the words, the wisdom, the mechanics but what we do not know is to reach out.
  • It starts with us, change our perceived thoughts, be more flexible in taking our stand and never go astray with the principals and guidance that is drawn from the Quran and authentic Hadith.
  • Never allow ourselves to be caught in a maze of zealotry or even fanaticism, but instead always have an open mind with regards to issues happening in and around us.
  • Finally, The populous masquerade their cerebration in such a way they each think that the world envelopes around their train of thought processes. Sadly,it does not work that way. Voice your opinions with nuance and if you find it necessary to criticize, do it, constructively with compassion lingering in your very souls and minds
  • Spread peace, diffuse any form of tension that arises and educate ourselves by reading more. =)
